Stupid mistakes

So here I was, sitting in the hallway (after the honor roll breakfast by the way), and my chemistry teacher comes along. He told me I did... very well... on my test; just below 50 out of 52. He also said that I probably would have gotten a 100% if I did not FORGET A QUESTION!!!

That's the thing that grinds my gears, I got everything else correct but if it were not for that one question that would I have aced it. This isn't the first time I've made stupid mistakes on tests.

All the time in math, I do all the work and come up with an answer in the work space but then I pull a random number straight from nowhere and write it on the page. Other times I forget to work with the negatives or type in the wrong number on my calculator and the whole problem is wrong because or it.

If it weren't for these little mistakes I probably would have a higher average. Mistakes are a big part of life so I have to work around them. But they are still really annoying.

A new America

Hear the news?

Barack Obama won the presidential election! For the past 8 years, George Bush was the president and his terms were not the best. We started a war and we ended in a financial crisis. Hopefully Obama can bring some change.

My classmates keep saying that, "Obama is going to tax the hell out of us." and, "Now all of the middle class will become poor." I don't know how true that is though. I've heard that Obama is going to tax the upper class more and the middle and lower class less. "Distribution of wealth" I hear he calls it.

More teachers will be recruited, the war, I think, will come to a resolution, and among other issues, change will occur.

I have a feeling that these next 4 years will be the best since 2000.

Election Day

Guess what today is?
...............

If you couldn't tell by the title, today is the Election Day! On this day, 50% of 50% of all people of 18 years or older go out and vote for one man who could likely become the president of America. This election is a special one because either choice makes history. Senator Barack Obama could become the first black president in history, and Vice Presidential candidate of Senator John Mcain, Sara Palin could become the first female Vice President in history.

Every day, I hear peoples opinions on the presidential candidates and most of the time they are not legitimate arguments. Many racist people, people who STILL can't get over the fact that someone has a different skin color than them, sadly still vote. In my opinion, that is really pathetic because they won't vote for Barack Obama just because he is black. I've also heard that "Obama will tax the hell out of everyone." Which I have yet to hear from Obama's mouth so I can't believe.

I've also heard someone say, "Mcain is an idiot. Palin is an idiot." which I have to disagree with. People may not agree with them, but that does not mean that they are idiots.

People see television ads that say, "Your vote counts." This is not necessarily true. The votes in one state are counted and a representative from every state goes to the Electoral College to cast the votes that determine the President. Generally, they vote depending on the popular votes in the state they are representing. But they are not required to do so. So they can just vote for any president they want and not even count the popular vote.

When I become 18, I'd love to vote. But I would be more enthusiastic if my vote was guaranteed to count.
